Review
I started using the third edition of this book in my introductory course on marine sciences. I have to say that Castro and Huber have taken a professional approach, the effective coverage of a different subject. The book is a typical approach. Part 1: The nature of science and the physical environment. Part 2: Life in the marine environment, physiology and move to diversity. Part 3: Ecology, which covers the basics and explore various habitats Arina. Part 4: The human impact on the sea. The things I like about this book are excellent illustrations, both photographs and diagrams, box readings on specific topics, and car reviews section. Things that I like are the inability to bring the various groups of animals in evolutionary relationships. There are two chapters on marine organisms, vertebrates and invertebrates. This agreement does not recognize the diversity in all these groups and related groups often are stacked together for no reason but convenience. I think that perhaps a simple appendix of cladograms of the various groups to solve this problem. There is also a companion Web site that I have not had time to explore.
